MEAM.Design - MEAM 101 - TOKEN
Objective
Your task is to use SolidWorks and the laser cutter to create a personalized token. Successful completion of this project will serve as proof that you understand the workflow and know how to use our laser-cutting equipment.
Supplies
When you arrive for laser cutting, you will receive a square of 1/8" thick PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate, commonly known as Acrylic or Plexiglass, see Wikipedia for more information about this very useful plastic).
Exterior Definition
The common exterior shape for the token (which will closely resemble an interlocking puzzle piece) can be found in the following drawing. You MUST match this shape in your individual design.
Interior Definition
You will need to design the interior of your token on your own. Your name must be clearly visible somewhere. Otherwise, be creative!
Laser Training
In studio 03S, we will teach you how to operate the laser cutter.
Using the Laser Cutter
A TA must be present the first time that you use the laser cutter. Please see the calendar at the bottom of the MEAM 101 homepage for the available times. Once it is cut, you will submit your TOKEN to the TA, and you're done!
