A bull nose endmill is a hybrid of a flat bottomed end mill and a ball endmill. It has a radius on the end but not a full radius. This helps prevent the cutting edges from chipping preserving tool life. As a result Bull nosed endmills can be run harder removing more material compared to regular flat bottomed end mills. The disadvantage of a bull nosed end mill is that it can not be used to cut profiles since the end is rounded. \\
