MEAM.Design - MEAM 247 - P3: Concentrate - Strain Data
This data was taken as we slowly loaded the plate to 2000 lb, held the load for a while, then slowly unloaded. The strain gauge data was taken at approximate 10-second intervals, and the values reported are "microstrain", which is one-millionth of regular strain. The gauges were located in the following positions along the H-H line, with distances measured in inches away from the center of the hole, and orientation indicating whether the gauge was aligned vertically (V) or horizontally (H):
Gauge # | Distance (inches) | Orientation |
1 | 3.39 | H |
2 | 3.25 | H |
3 | 1.50 | H |
4 | 0.75 | H |
5 | 3.39 | V |
6 | 2.01 | V |
7 | 1.20 | V |
8 | 0.67 | V |
9 | 4.79 | H |
10 | 4.79 | V |
Having looked at the data, I encourage you to approach this with a good dose of scientific skepticism! (if time permits, I will gather better data.)
