MEAM.Design - MEAM 201 - 11: Displacer Connecting Rod
To transmit motion from the return crank to the displacer fork, you're going to need to design and manufacture another small connecting rod. A few notes:
1. We will provide you with a shoulder bolt to interface with the displacer fork. You will want to ensure that this is a low-friction joint.
2. You will need to create a second low-friction joint between the connecting rod and the provided displacer shaft (which will be attached to far end of the return crank).
3. The center-to-center distance from the shoulder bolt to the displacer shaft should be 1.625".
5. We will provide 1/8" sheet stock in 6061-T6 aluminum, MDF, and acrylic.
6. We have a number of items that you might like to use for low-friction rotational joints, including bronze bushings (0.1875" ID, 0.2500" OD, 0.375") and ball bearings (0.1875" ID, 0.3125" OD, 0.125").
