Best Unison aid on the internet.. Hopefully, a reader can help me.

=="prefer newer" is wrong?==

I use options "-times -prefer newer", but see the following case:

         <---- changed    dev/cS/design/diary.txt  [f] x
 data3        : unchanged file     modified on 2017-06-10 at 23:37:40  size 22391     rwx------
 vbackup : changed file modified on 2017-06-09 at 15:08:38 size 21083 rwx------

The older one is trying to overwrite the newer one! This has happened to me before, so I lost much data. If the implementation is not wrong, then what do I misunderstand? "prefer newer"? what does it mean exactly? Thanks for anyone respond. Jack.

==deleted files came back==

I have 3 copies, A & B synchronize, B acts as a center, B and C synchronize. The problem is that A deleted a file, then B will delete the file. but when B &C synchronize, the file will come back to B. and then A & B synchronize, the file comes back to A. What did I missed here? Jack

Mac OS Unison v 2.32.12 Problem

I've been using Unison for years. Linux. Windows. Mac OSX. USB Drives. SSH between them all. I'm pretty fluent. I have initiated most syncs from the Windows computer or Linux computer. Now I need to initiate from the Mac.

I establish the SSH link, running a Unison profile, and all is okay. Then Unison would error. Turns out the Windows box has to have the HOME environment variable set. Log out and log back in, and now that works fine. Now Unison just hangs. I turn on debug = all in the profile and here's what I get in the Mac terminal window:
