The Taz 5 Satellite Machines are part of a machine loan out system offered by MEAM Labs. Professors can request a Satellites cart to support short-term projects in their class. A cart consists of a Lulzbot Taz 5 Machine, lock down cable, material, and few post-processing tools.  Ideal for small or group classes,  longer prints, and material variety.

Taz 5s are fused-deposition modeling (FDM) machines that can extrude a range of materials to build up objects layer-by-layer in order to produce three-dimensional parts. Materials include PLA, ABS, HIPS, NinjaFlex, Laywood, and many more. Professors can request special materials to be provided or students can request allow for order lead times. These machines are intended for prototyping. Large parts are prone to shrinkage and warping due to unequal cooling throughout the part; due to this, large parts are often best-suited for our more accurate Dimension Elite, Fortus 450mc, Objet 30, or ProJet 6000.

Professors can request a satellite cart to support short-term projects in their class. Requests are granted on a first come first serve basis and are limited to MEAM Courses. Satellite can set up at the location of your choice stocked with materials. MEAM Labs can also offer an optional training lecture and quiz to  support students understanding of the equipment and  design for printing methods.

Professors can request a baseline material to come with the satellite cart. However, students can request other materials. We stock many materials, but for specialty orders please allow for order time.

Materials include: Laywood, NinjaFlex, Stainless Steel PLA, and more.

This is an all inclusive guide to prepare student to use the Taz Machines. Please remember Taz machines can only be used for the courses reserving them at those times. For all other requests, please see the RPL or AddLab staff for options. We are always looking for more tips to give, so if you make any discoveries to help with printing please let us know and we will add them to the list.
