CIS 700, Summer 2006 (Emerging Web Technologies)

This is a wiki, which is a collaborative web site, one that can be edited by many people. Wikipedia is a great example; I don't know of another encyclopedia that has an up-to-date article on the Ruby programming language. The more people use (and extend) a wiki, the more useful it becomes. This wiki will be useful to CIS 700 only if we, the members of the class, make it useful. • Test-first Ruby programming an interesting article on Ruby at IBM developerWorks (registration required).
• Added a link to Ruby forums to the Useful Links section.
• An article Quick Hits From Around the Ruby World has just appeared in Linux Journal. It shows what is going on in the Ruby community.
• Added a link to the free Rails web hosting provider to the Useful Links section.
• Added Ruby on Rails Podcast to the Useful Links section. I listened to the interview with the author of Agile web development with Rails - Dave Thomas (episode #2). It is interesting and not very long.
• 10-Week Free AJAX Programming (with Passion!) Online Course for those of you who would like to dive into AJAX with Java. First session starts August 4th.
• I added two required Ajax readings to the Assignments page. I might include exam questions from these two readings. I also added an example using hidden frames, and the last Ajax assignment.
• Information for installing Ruby on Linux machines has been added to the Ruby and Rails page
• Please obtain and install VS.NET 2005 on your computer if you do not wish to develop all your Ajax projects in the lab at Penn.
• Note that the true line has been removed from the definition of '==' in the Fraction class.
